Most cloud storage accounts accumulate the same kinds of dead weight over time: duplicate uploads (the same file synced from two devices, or copied “just in case”), and stale files nobody has opened in years (old exports, one-off downloads, abandoned project folders).

This calculator gives you a rough estimate of how much space that dead weight might represent, based on your total usage and a rough sense of how much is duplicated or unused. It's a starting point — Purgify measures the real numbers by actually scanning your connected accounts.

How to use it

  1. 01Enter your total storage used, in GB.
  2. 02Adjust the sliders to your best estimate of how much is duplicates and how much is stale (untouched for a long time).
  3. 03Read the estimated reclaimable space — the amount you could likely free up by cleaning both.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this estimate?

It's a rough planning estimate based on percentages you provide, not an actual scan of your files. For an exact number, Purgify scans file metadata across your connected accounts and reports real duplicate and stale-file totals.

What counts as a “stale” file?

Typically a file that hasn't been modified or opened in a long time — commonly a year or more. Purgify lets you define this threshold yourself (for example, “files older than 1 year”) and previews exactly what matches before anything is touched.

Will this delete anything?

No — this calculator is purely an estimate and doesn't touch any files. It doesn't even see your files; you're just entering numbers. Actual cleanup happens in Purgify, which previews every match in a dry-run before you confirm any deletion.
